Wow..Growing swarm of earthquakes in Southern California..latest is a 5.0

And another 4.0 just now.

these are located near the Salton Sea, East of Escondido an San Diego.

It’s always shaking non-stop, but this is a particularly strong swarm; unusual to have them in California with the amount over 4 (and the list I posted has all the quakes at a little less strong than my earthquake app).

Wonder if this could lead to anything larger; anyone know if this is near any large faults?

Yeah, me too. There as a long swarm a few years back in Northern Cal, but none of the quakes got over a 4...so this one is pretty impressive. Also the number of quakes.

I mean, you see aftershock patterns like this all the time, but not a swarm like this with no main shock. Which is why I have to wonder if they are pre-shocks to something.

Well I don’t know this site, but they have a following and they are saying 40 percent chance of a quake in this area over 6.0....but prediction also includes San Francisco area; how does that make sense?

Yes, evidently it is in a fault complex that eventually connects to the San Andreas, but according to Lucy Jones, far enough away that it shouldn’t cause a quake there...doesn’t mean it can’t lead to trouble though, I think
