That's not true. There are a couple of problems with 21st century American patriotism, however.

Problem #1: Perfectly normal people on both the left and the right consider themselves patriots. But they are a minority of the population.

Problem #2: The majority of Americans, again on both the left and the right, don't give a damn what happens as long as it doesn't affect them personally. As long as they have their house, dog, 2.5 kids, SUVs in the garage, beer in the fridge, and 1,000 cable channels, 500 of which are sports, they won't participate in any activity that inconveniences them whatsoever, on either side.

Problem #3: Unlike the American Civil War 1.0, there will be no clean geographic dividing lines between sides, no uniforms depicting who's fighting for what, plus the addition of some people not participating for either side, but merely for the opportunity to rape, pillage, and plunder with minimal consequences.

Make no mistake, if an American Civil War 2.0 does actually kick off, it's not going to be what anyone expects it to be; it will be much, much worse, and it will destroy this country within months.
