I’m more concerned you think what someone wants for an item on eBay is an indication of economic standing.

It's ebay, where you can literally sell a pencil for 100 bucks. People who buy stuff from Ebay, are just low iq folk.

A lot of the super over-priced ebay stuff turns out to be a scam. For example, people have fake bid up corning ware - spice of life patterns into the thousands of dollars. Upon investigation, it turns out many of these were just fake sales that were never actually paid for, or money laundering scams for drug money.

I made over 400k profit on ebay in a 20-month period of time before they banned me for selling prohibited items.

Sometimes sellers run out of a item and instead of pulling the sale while they wait for resupply they just put a ridiculous price on it.

After looking into it I guess the bikes a super rare and sought after by idiots with way too much money.

I'm going to unload some vintage 1980's-90's mint condition mt bike parts on Ebay soon, I fully expect the brand never used Paul derailleur in billet silver, and the never used Onza crazy rare full titanium bar ends will sell for quite a bit. There really is a market for extremely rare bicycle parts, older 1980's skateboard decks are also shockingly expensive.
