That has to be one of the worst quality recordings I've heard in years. The song is great, but whoever worked at mastering it didn't know what they were doing, it's easy to tell on revealing speakers.

Similarly Allison Krauss' song "My Ain True Love" is a protection song for her soldier suitor so that he cannot be harmed, and so he might become her husband...if he only survives countless perils.

Just like the Allison Krauss song, in the film Excalibur, Mirgan Le Fey speaks a protection charm over her son Mordred so he cannot be easily harmed in war. That traces to several mythos like Baldur's mother doing the same so he cannot be easily killed, but she ignores mistletoe which ends up killing him. And Achilles mother Thetis again speaks a protection charm over him as she dips him by the heel into a sacred river, but zince that heel wasn't immersed, that is how he bleeds to death.

People like Joseph Campbell tracked down all these myths and how they spread into western civilization in songs and similar tales.

The soldier lover teases and asks for a cambric shirt which is an especially fine linen which comes from combing flax and is then woven and is very comfortable versus harsh wool. But then asks for the impossible: that it may be be without seam or needlework! How would you do such a feat? He is asking for a perfect demonstration of her skills if she really is his true love.

Look at some expensive linen from the UK sometime. Those are used in churches as it is especially fine cloth.
