The White House will spend a little over $44,000 to deep clean its carpets before President-elect Joe Biden moves in amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report.
According to federal financial documents cited by TMZ, the amount will be spent on “Inauguration Carpet Cleaning” inside the 55,000-square-foot mansion, which has 132 rooms.
It is unclear how many rooms will have fresh carpeting, according to the outlet.
While a major scrubbing of the presidential home occurs regularly when a new commander-in-chief moves in, a more thorough cleaning is expected this time around due to the virus.
President Trump, first lady Melania Trump and their son all caught the bug, as did other people in their orbit.
“During the transition GSA works closely with the Executive Office of the President to ensure that all building areas are prepared for the incoming Administration and completed within the allocated time frame,” a General Services Administration spokesperson told The Telegraph .
