I think they will follow the orders of the commander in chief so long as they are Constitutionally correct. I do not believe they will fire upon American citizens.

In life, I developed a sixth sense to feel when confronted with bullshit. It is not 100%, but does work on occasion.

This is what I don't get. A combat vet who thinks young amped up soldiers in a threatening situation will just stand down because their American terrorists who are trying to hurt them.

I watched the videos I know that the storming of the capital was violent. You think service men and women are going to watch their brothers and sisters get hurt without acting. Wake up man.

I can only speak for the active military. The National Guard is a joke compared to the active military. There are no active military on our streets, only National Guard.

First, troops follow lawful orders and obey the chain of command.

When things become messy this is murky situation.

Do you remember the national guard troops that came back from a tour in Iraq that went into new Orleans after Katrina??

They were ready to fire on those that might fire on them.

I was in USMC at Camp Pendleton during LA riots. We were on standby to to there and we go armed to teeth everywhere. If someone would have fired on me, I would have returned fire until threat was gone. As far as orders being lawful? I trusted in my chain of command that they were.

Don't think a piece of paper is going to save you if you attack US troops on a mission.

Military and police have orders to be there and a job to do. You don't. So don't expect to break into a government building and think anything is going to shield you from bad outcome.

Posse Comitatus prevents the use of active military in policing unless the Insurrection Act is invoked.

Back during Katrina I made a big deal about how Iraq war is combat vet NG troops were used. It crossed a line that previously had not been crossed.

Using NG troops in foreign conflicts outside the US was a line George W crossed and no one pushed against that.

No one gave a shit then but I knew it was significant.

And it is 100% truth that our Marine Corps unit was on standby for LA riots.

US military HAS operated on US soil during chaotic times, has been attacked by civilians AND has killed civilians.

Attacking forces cut off communications, go "radio silence," or cut diplomatic ties just before an attack, and I think we're seeing all three being played out on both sides.

And here are my words for any military, leo etc. Time is coming when all of you are going to have to make a choice about whom you serve. The Republic and it's Constitution or it's potential usurpers. Choose wisely. The people know who you are and you will be held accountable. "I was just following orders" will not save you from the consequences of betrayal.

I was in 7th I.D. (Fort Ord) when the 2nd Brigade deployed (under MG Marvin Covault) to Los Angeles. You are confusing self defense with orders to actively conduct offensive actions against fellow citizens. Of course, we would have defended ourselves, but there is no way that we would have followed illegal orders to go on the offensive against U.S. citizens.

So,how long before you start shooting Trump supporters in the streets of America because you were so ordered.

I am a veteran and I’d never follow such an order, but most of the troops were indoctrinated by the public school system and know JACK FUCKING SHIT about the Constitution.

I grew up in a military family. Father, grandfather, uncles all served. I know the mentality. I can tell you with absolute certainty that if ordered, the military WILL fire on the American public without hesitation. Count on it. Cops and military are trained to do one thing and that is to follow orders. These people are are not your friends.

I don't live in a locked-down state, so I don't know the situation there. I was though reading about the French Revolution where the monarchy was overthrown. People were suffering, starving. They watched the nobility living in luxury. They successfully attacked and overthrew the government.

What's it like in the locked-down states? Are they hungry enough and have they lost enough due to their businesses being locked down to actually rise up against the government? Not long ago, a couple of congressmen's homes were vandalized. People are getting antsy, very upset with the situation. Keep us locked down much longer, no telling how bad things will get.

I don't think they'll be targeting Trump supporters. I think they'll be targeting government officials. How long will people sit back and follow the 'rules' (social distancing, mask wearing, stay-at-home orders), rules that don't apply to those in power?
