Any engineers or grease "experts" on at the moment?
I used a sheep shearing handpiece and have heard Molygrease might be the best because it works well in dusty conditions.

The handpiece does warm up but only to about 100*F tops, but it does get covered in dust.

Would the Molygrease be the best?

The red circled area does remain in the sheeps wool most of the time but it is also the area that hits the most dusty.

No the wool will stick to it gumming it up. I would say use a very lite coat of symthetic 0w20 motor oil

Maybe one of the lubricants designed for coin-return mechanisms

Google actually has some suggestions for

Sheep shear lubricant.

Marvel Mystery Oil is one of them.

Smells good too.

Yes marvel mystery oil is very thin . any thin oil. You will have to clean and retreat after each use. Or as needed. If it were me i would get a can of automotive brake cleaner. Hose it down and recoat with 0w20.

Mineral oil works best. Baby oil. Used in shears since they were a thing.

Have you tried WD-40? I'd imagine you'd want something that hoses off easily.

Actually now that I think about dusty conditions I'd be inclined to try some motorcycle chain lube.

Another sheep shearer mentioned graphite grease.

Why would this be good?

ie what benefits does it have?!

Trust me you do not want anything thick. It will cause hair to get gummed up in the teeth, then get hot and burn, and then before you know it the blade will dull quickly. You want something thin and organic. Also something with cling power. Been using sheers my whole life. Mineral oil is the way to go.

Graphite has excellent lubricity. I would think a dry silicone lube would work well.

The properties of graphite are strong adhesion, very low CoF and very good as a sliding lubricant. Stable up to 900 degrees.

Aren't sheep already kinda greasy - oily?

I like White lithium grease for most things. It stays put.

Coconut oil. It's good grade, since you will get it on the sheep's skin.
