Holy Shit Trees Coming Down Everywhere Here in Central Texas

Since it only comes down real hard every 10 years or so, the trees don't develop the strength to handle it.

Kinda like leggy seedlings need wind to develop strong stems.

It's actually gonna get subfreezing in the Galveston area. Now that's gonna be a shit show.

It is so surreal to be outside and hear trees falling...

So sorry OP. Oklahoma here and we had that happen earlier in the Winter. It is a horrific sound to hear tress breaking and falling. We STILL have some widow makers hanging on our property.

It's crazy... if you stand outside you can hear trees coming down all in the wooded areas. I must have heard 20 treefalls today.

If a tree falls from ice and you’re not around to hear it, did it actually fall?

We had a bad ice storm in '94 that knocked out power for 9 days. You cold stand outside and hear the trees cracking and popping every few seconds. Ice got over 1/4" thick on everything adding tons of weight to every branch. Whole sections of huge hemlocks over 100' tall came down. This was in Virginia.

Mother Nature is severe poisoned. Trees give up much earlier than how accustomed from earlier times.

My sis is over in Bastrop County. She was okay when I checked in our her this afternoon. They were worried about friends that had livestock or crops that don't do well with this kind of bad weather. Someone should hook up some hair dryers and have those blow on the trees so they don't freeze up and break apart like that!

Lucky in my area it’s construction that is mowing them all down.

What kind of trees are those? It looks hollow.

Maybe diseased.
