Well, to be fair to OP, before this last round of snow, we had to go to 2 stores to find a milk house space heater for the garage. Only needed it because that's the only place I had to store my preps. People bought up the last of the space heaters before I went to look.

The rest, it's still in the stores. Plenty of hats and things. The stores are starting their switch to spring/summer, though. Need a grill!?

Btw, I live in NC Ohio now. Grew up here, too, so I lived through the blizzard of '77 AND the next on in '78. They were almost back to back for us. Ohio gets snow!

We lived in west Texas for over 20 years until recently. The South Plains gets a lot of snow every few years. One year, we were out of power for almost a week, but we did still have gas for heat. It's not easy living in the middle of a cotton field in Texas, but we learned alot about prepping in those years.

I live in Moscow and we have not had so much snow for a long time and a snow roll has formed on the roads. I work on a snow plow, there is nothing more dangerous than a frozen snow roll, which is not removed in time turns into ice. I can't get to work by car properly, the tires with spikes don't help.

Humans are used to what they live with in terms of temps, and i would never judge people that are not used to cold, when they experience real cold temps.

Just like the opposite, of how in high temps, people coming from cold areas can have problems.

I do not doubt people die in severe cold, when they are not used to such conditions, and are not ready for it. Just like heat waves can kill people not used to it. Severe cold can kill those who are not used to it, or are not ready for it.
