I remember seeing that guy in the late 80's or early 90's, crazy that was so long ago. I don't think I've been back since then, OC beaches were better.

Yeah my daughter used to be a waitress at Islands restaurant but got no tips, bailed. Became their main accountant, bailed, started her own accountant firm.

his name is Harry Perry, Sikh(sp) religion, German in Venice mentioned him couple episodes back that hes still around. Venice. S.M. beach is toast cause of all the homeless. was reported businesses closed, less tourists.

Good post, yes Ralph was the rolling icon of Venice Beach, before he got run over in the great train wreck no?

That used to be my spot to ditch high school and play hoops. I used to come from the Mid Wilshire district in LA, sometimes on a skateboard. That was back in the early 90s.

For several years during the 90s there was an ongoing war between the Venice 13s and the Shoreline Crips. Sometime toward the late 90s there was a move to clean up Venice and attract working professionals. That is also about the time they got rid of the pavillion and worked on improvements to the restrooms and seating areas. I called it the Disneyfication of Venice.

From what I remember Santa Monica had the large homeless encampments near the pier. It used to be called the Peoples Republic of Santa Monica partly because of the homeless.

Man I had some good memories at Venice. Now I'm just a middle aged guy living in no mans land in the upper midwest.

I remember it was beautiful and fun. Glad I saw it then....

Ok I remember you're right his name was Harry. I think I saw him rolling out of a Ralphs super market packing a roller blading 6-pack n mixed it all up.... yeah I always had a few SnortNhappies for fine tuning the Venice CruisinHappies.
