That is very cool flaming sword, we think alike in that regard. Perhaps one day we will see the steam locomotive again? There was no need for us to rush forward with all this technology, and we know it was wrong, you and me and all of us who knew. Your thread makes me think of the other one aboiut electronic kits, but, steam is a truly sublime thing, electronics and transistors didn't add so very much to steam.

I collect actual antique stationary engines. I have 23 completely working, running, stationary engines from 1920s onward. Some are bigger than a truck. They'll run on anything from gasoline, diesel, or vegetable oil.

No worries if SHTF.

If SHTF bad enough, going back to steam power would be an excellent way to get things going again. It is technology that can be brought back online with minimal tooling. In fact, most technology from the latter half of the 19th century would fall into this category.

I've played around with wood gas. It is fickle and is hard on engines, but hey, it is better than walking.

is i doubt steam will take a foothold. there are millions of internal combustion engines all over the place. there is also billions of gallons of gasoline stuck in the pipelines of the transportation chain. no need for victorian technology.
