Shoes are an essential prep. You can't run around in heels during the middle of a Dark Winter. Get solid shoes that are waterproof/resistant.

Silicone Spray will make the shoe water-resistant.

The first thing you do in a disaster is put on heavy shoes. Always keep a pair by your bedside and in your car. Don't go running around in the middle of a disaster barefoot. Just don't, you are a GLPer and educated.

Good advice about shoes. I stocked up on running shoes and waterproof hiking shoes last year. We are picky about our shoes, so I got our favorites. Husband also has steel toe military uniform boots. I also have some good snow boots that I got for DC right before Covid started.

You can make do with clothes most of the time, but it's much harder to make do with the wrong shoes!

Get coats and underwear as well, GLP!

You are so right about the shoes, coats and underwear. A person can always barter pieces of clothing that don't work. We have lost the art of making our own clothes here in the states, so yes, get these things while available.
