Guy flunks out medical school and has $430,000 of Student Loans

I don't trust doctors or any profession with so much debt from schooling.

Medical school nearly killed me. Fortunately I flunked out a long time ago when it wasn't nearly as expensive, and I flunked out early enough not to rack up big debts.

But the whole thing is a horrorshow. There was this guy in one of my classes who used a bent wire to raid the assignment submission box and tear up other people's work. He would pic the lock on the thing and just choose one or two people's papers at a time, not enough to make the prof suspicious. When I caught him at it after the prof didn't get a paper I had slaved over, he told me he would murder me in my sleep if I mentioned it to another soul. I still dropped the dime on that weasily peice of shit and he didn't do anything.

Never have I met a more paranoid, narcissistic, hyper-competitive, scared-shitless, living on the edge of perpetual panic and nervous exhaustion group of people than the ones I met in med school. To even make it through that psychic meatgrinder you basically have to be a ruthless piece of shit. It doesn't help that you start to look at people as pieces of meat to be carved up, either.

Declare bankruptcy. Start your own business doing something you love. Invest in crypto currency.

where have you been? student loans can't be discharged in bankruptcy.

This is why everyone in med school is so sweaty and freaked out all the time. If they don't get that brass ring its not merely "go back to zero and start over..." it's "You sir are skull-fucked for life."

I think they are just taking advantage of those loans and it doesn't cost that much for the actual education, they are taking loans out for rent and extra money.

My daughter fucked up with her degree, she can't do anything with it until she gets her phd. It's like going to medical school and not finishing those last 4 years. She barely has any debt because college should be for only smart people that get scholarships and grants.

That's not entirely true. Technically speaking, student loans can be discharged, but it is exceeding difficult to do so.

as far as not paying back student loans in america, it's pretty much the same as the rest of the western world.

so your best bet. is to default and then for the loan to be transferred to a debt company and have them attempt to collect it.

Something will have to give with the "student loans aren't dischargable" thing.

It's a big part of the reason academia is so screwed up ideologically (communist). They have no risk whatsoever because their debts can never be discharged, and so there is no accountability or incentive to provide practical real-world ultility. If something goes wrong they suffer no consequences, just like a big government agency in a communist country. No wonder they promote communist ideology. They are functionally communists already on an economic level.

In fact even if you flunk out and can't pay like the poor bastard in the OP, its no skin off the school's back. When they enroll somebody they immediately sell the debt for up-front cash.

Its a massive scam.

He needs to negotiate with the schools and the loan companies to reach a settlement...They clearly took advantage of a man with an average to slightly below 100 IQ...They could and should have tested him before loaning him half a million dollars...It takes an IQ of at least 120 to be a doctor!!

Some people would like to have cars and homes in their names. You can never own anything or get a credit card or rent an apartment. Basically have to become dependent on someone to provide all this for you or become homeless. For the rest of your life.
