Why are park rangers walking around strapped with guns? | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 79378068 United States 06/09/2021 05:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is true. The Park Service still doesn't administer psych tests. God knows how many psychos they're employing. I just want to go camping and hiking in our public lands and not have some rude asshole armed to the teeth ordering me around. |

Not really - most people that USE parks understand the dangers. Fat trolls that likely never leave their basements do not. As I said, you are obviously playing stupid. As another intelligent poster said, dumb bait thread. However, I did just want to leave a fond wish that you end up in the great outdoors getting a visit from that grizzly I mentioned - and that an armed Ranger is there to make sure that neither you or anyone else get harmed. Now stop trolling about stupid shit and use your powers for good. ad ignorantiam - The assumption of a conclusion or fact based primarily on lack of evidence to the contrary. I carry everywhere. Doesn't everyone? If yer gonna quote the Amendment, you better quote the whole amendment or you are disrespecting the Constitution. Are you in a militia? I doubt it, because they aren't legal, apparently. Work on making them legal, then you have 100% compliance and no one can ever take your right away. The Militia is a given. We The People are the Militia. It says so right there in the Second Amendment. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

(A Freedom of Information Act request to review the agency’s data about use of force by rangers nationwide, filed in August by Outside, is still pending.) However, as is true with other law-enforcement agencies, the past decade has seen a number of cases in which rangers have been accused of responding to minor violations with excessive force. |

There was a lot of violence at that campground previously. But yeah it kind of ruins your trip to be given the third degree as you enter the campground by an overbearing park ranger with 5.56 magazines strapped to their bulletproof vest. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79750406 AR-15s? WTF? Why? I'm in Washington also and I don't like the way the rangers strut around like they're badasses. They should be peaceful public servants who enjoy the outdoors. The other day one of them was staring at me, giving me a hard look with his .45 on his hip. Fuck that. I've never had any problem with anyone else they've been extremely professional to me |

Those are the ones you see with firearms and driving in patrol vehicles. You are confusing them with the whole other class of park rangers (not LEO) that do the other work and maintenance in parks, like leading tour groups. |
