He effed up on the handling of the pandemic but he does deserve credit for Warp Speed and the push for rapid vaccine development.
I think he knows his legacy will be as the one who effed up the national COVID response which cost him the election so he wants to try and erase that with (rightfully) claiming credit for Warp Speed which the Dumbocrats will never give him.
