Remember to take a moment and reflect on why the 4th of July should be celebrated.

We declared independence from a tyrannical and oppressive British monarchy who routinely squashed the colonists' civil liberties, devalued and eventually abolished their currency, enacted laws that were against the interests of the colonists, did not acknowledge laws that the crown did not like, placed restrictions on peaceful protest and gatherings, disrespected colonists' property rights and right to privacy, taxed nearly everything the colonists consumed and produced, and worst of all they tried to take away their guns and limit their ability to protect themselves.

Through the selfless acts of the colonists that defeated the British army and won our independence, we should be thankful that we no longer have to live under such tyrannical rule.
