User ID: 80069114 United States 07/15/2021 08:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to whatnownews24.com (secure)] According to nuclear watchdog, Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (FANC), the Belgian nuclear reactor Doel 2 in Antwerp, has been manually shut down in the night from Wednesday to Thursday, after people from Engie Electrabel noticed a leak. They noticed that much more hydrogen than usual was being used to cool the alternator indicating a leak. Both the FANC and Engie Electrabel are monitoring the reactor. Currently, they are attempting to find the source of the leak, but it is believed to be in the non-nuclear part of the reactor. Once the leak is closed, the nuclear reactor can than be restarted. The Doel 2 nuclear reactor is one of the smallest reactors out of a total of seven in the country. It has a maximum capacity of 445 megawatts and has been operating since 1975. |
