Will religion make me happy?
I sometimes want to join a religion but everyone just seems so unhappy I don't see the point of joining anything anymore. Does anyone feel the same way?

That's crazy you posted jd, I have watched him before. I like watching him because he speaks the truth about the world we live in, even if you do not believe in jesus. I don't consider myself religious, but I will watch anyone who speak with some amount of truth anymore. I'm having a hard time explaining it, but I feel that many people of the world are tapping into some sort of... hive mind... collective? I just feel a sense of dread, and I noticed it all around the world from what I've been reading lately.

Re: Will religion make me happy?
Happiness comes from all kids of things.

If you care about eternity then Jesus is the best bet.

All other "pathways" will make you more unhappy.

I heard in the 60s and 70s there where Christian sex cults that lured men in with hot women.

But for the most part, religion is about service And dedication to something, if service and dedication make you happy then yes.

Religion almost always make me mad but helping others brings joy.

1. Dedication to higher power
2. Service to others
3. Self reflection and improvement
4. Shared community

Those are main aspects.

Re: Will religion make me happy?
happiness is a 'choice'. we choose to be happy, or not. simple as that.

there is a difference between being 'religious' and being 'spiritual'. find what that difference is, for yourself, before attempting either one. there are different meanings for everyone, meaning my path can be different than yours, and still ok, as long as the basic concepts are understood.

many folks sitting in church with their Bible each week, thinking they are being 'spiritual' just by being there and going thru the motions, when they are only being 'religious'... They have not yet discovered the true meaning of being 'spiritual'.

my idea of being spiritual, which may vary slightly from others, at least some basic concepts.. is to be loving and kind, first to myself and then towards others. putting my trust in God as my Creator, which connects me to Him as my higher consciousness. this is what allows me to care deeply about the planet, the animals I share this planet with and the people I am connected with.

But how would I go about that? I almost feel like it is pointless. If god knows everything I'm already predestined to hell or heaven and nothing I can do can change that so why bother?

Pre destination nos only for big things mostly, like "good people will win", but the other choices usually are free will to the full.

Pre-destination,"drive to the store and buy some milk"

Free will:
Which way to drive
How long to take
What music to listen to
What brand to buy
To actually go or not

You can read the gospel of Mark and say a short prayer to god and Jesus. Simple start. Or just pray then read.

You will find all kinds of bitterness and people with all kinds of views, but the simple gospel is the only view where faith and trust and surrendering to Jesus and god saves.

All other religious are based on work, service, enlightenment, and some even require multiple lifetimes of work to achieve "salvation"

Just type on the religion and "salvation" into Google to see the pathways they claim.

If we were really on a track where our choices mean nothing then life would mean nothing.

It is my view God gives us free will to make the choices he puts in front of us. He cares about everyone and wants us all to be better. Right now with issues you're having I would talk to him and come right out and say it. Ask for direction.
This is what I do.

Sure, you can change where you go. Repent and ask God for forgiveness and those you've sinned/harmed for forgiveness. Ask God for His Holy Spirit to enable you to live according to His will. God will forgive you and receive you as His own.

It's not about happiness which is based on what happens but a joy, a peace, contentment with being at peace with your Maker and with others as far as its up to you.

The 2 greatest commandments are love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself.

Be careful of organized religion because just as in Jesus' day there is much corruption and hypocrisy. Still genuine fellowship with other believers is beautiful.

That's ok! There are some things in life that are going ok, then you see things that you don't like. Even Jesus went about His life in mostly peaceful ways, yet what happened when he saw the moneymakers in the temple? He became angry and overturned their tables! That was NOT the place for that, and He let them know, in more ways than one. So that was His rant. And afterward, He became His usual peaceful self.

He shows us by His own life here on earth, how we can live our lives here too.

Don't we all. lol Especially as we're going along, merrily down the narrow path of this thing called life. Stop for a bit to stretch, see a little trail and get curious, go on an adventure.. hit a brick wall, or a friend happens to see us in time and whispers 'pssst hey get back over here lol' and we head back to the narrow path safely, just in time.. we are truly in this together.. not the way that the fake world would have us think, but sincerely having each other's backs.

God fully understands we are still spiritually immature and will at times make poor choices through free will and not knowing any better.

Contrary to popular belief that God will judge and punish those who made poor choices, the benevolent, patient, and loving God is always working to nurture and guide us back onto the good path towards higher wisdom and maturity when we veered off it.

In other words, you are not "predestined to hell or heaven".

There is no pleasing or displeasing God. The compassionate God will always have pure unconditional love for each of us.

Exactly! Well said. hf

I like to picture God as a loving Father figure who may look at me sternly if I'm about to make a wrong choice, or who may look at me with a twinkle in His eyes if He finds what I do or say as humorous lol.

I've even talked with God out loud such as 'not funny, srsly, that wasn't even funny!' and pictured Him as my Father getting a big chuckle out of whatever, nonetheless, as a Father might. lol

Just today, for example.. (well, lol yesterday).. I was rushing about (yessss even tho my lesson in life presently is slowwww down, take things easier).. and I needed to head up to the store. So I called for a driver, grabbed my stuff, bankcard, a cart, and headed outside. Did my shopping, got thru the line, went to pay for everything, and.......... bankcard declined. srsly??? My thought was.. I had just transferred $$ onto that acct!! I looked at the bankcard... In my haste.. I had grabbed the wrong one! gaah

Sat down on the nearby bench, called the driver to come back and get me, take me home, grab the right bankcard, come back to store, pay for groceries, go back home again. Sitting there waiting.... 20 minutes. Grrrr.... I told God I srsly was not happy about this! Was a bad day! I hear a still small voice .... (what's the lesson in this?) I said to the voice in my head, I don't care about no lesson, I was mad! Grrrr.. lol snort. Am such a fool at times. By the time the driver got there.. I realized my lesson in all this was.... I needed to slooooooooooowwwww down. Darn it. Slow.down. I would have picked the right bankcard had I just slowed down. Ok. Ok. Ok I get it. Next lesson.. Gratitude. Not as long a wait as it could have been and at least I had a driver willing to do the back n forth and didn't have to walk. Still paid him double cuz it was worth it to me. Lessons learned.

And I'm sure that God, as my Father, was sitting up there, shaking His head in amusement, as Fathers do.

Does anyone else want to peek over His shoulder to see what His next plan for us might be? lol

?

you dont need a 'religion' just go read the whole Bible,
cover to cover, and you will see its story is quite different to what is being professed in the main religions.

Religion is putting your faith in man, instead of God.

You are placing a layer between you and Him. God wants you to speak DIRECTLY to Him. Let no priest, rabbi, bishop, pastor come between you and the Creator!
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 ESV

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards,
