Unlawful dismissal and a threat of common law battery means employer can be sued. In R Wilkinson v Broadmoor 2001 EWCA Civ 1545 The law clearly recognises this which is why exemptions are by self certification.. no one can interfere with your choice. That's 30% of our workforce that are refusing the vaccine. There was no mention of medical or religious exemptions. I work for a Christian healthcare organization and they are the first organization to our city to mandate employee vaccinations. Quoting: JackieBlue Our so called Christian doctors have been pushing this vaccine on us and our patients from day one. I've seen them lie to patients telling them that the vaccine is perfectly safe and that once you get the vaccine you will never get the Covid virus. All lies. I have an auto immune disease. I wrote a letter to HR with a quote from the CDC website "people with weakened immune systems may receive the Covid-19 vaccine, however, they should be made aware of the limited safety data and that information about the safety of Covid-19 vaccines for people who have weakened immune systems in this group is not yet available". I was then told that medical exemptions will be considered, however, we will be required to pay $100 per week for Covid testing. That's $400 per month just to keep my job. I would suggest you let them fire you. However, on the topic of charging you for the testing, they can't (legally). It's the same thing as your job requiring drug testing. If they require the test, then they pay for it. A LOT of employers are acting tough. Let them put their money where their mouth is. Call their bluff. Let's see if 40% of the current workforce is let go over the next month. I know several people in healthcare in a similar position and they are standing their ground. |
