It's my birthday, dirty laundry, family matters | |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 17342157 United States 08/17/2021 01:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was my birthday today 16th, what's left of it. I'm 47 now, my only child, my daughter is 25.She just moved out a few months ago, got her own place with her unemployed boyfriend & her son by another guy. Anyway, i got a text from her early this morning saying Happy Birthday. I waited all day for her to call me but she didn't. My wife picked her up from work & past by my home on the way to her home. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 17342157 I was surprised she didn't at least stop by for a few minutes to say again, happy birthday. But then she didn't call me either. Is this normal now? Am I just supposed to accept a text? I got upset & told my wife she should of called at least & now she's taking up for her & now we've been arguing & both mad. The wife went outside for an hr already. Am I wrong to have been upset? I told her I am human & have my own feelings but now it's a big deal like always just because I voice my own feelings. All I got from my wife was a quick happy birthday this morning also. No card, no surprise present, no under the sheets loving either. She says she hates birthdays. Yeah..... I'm not joking to be funny, that's exactly what happened. I mean am I wrong to expect simple things from my daughter & wife no matter how busy they think they are? Im not that way. They are the only ones I do except to be that way. |

Basically a single mom living on her own at 25... Trying to make things work depending on family for rides and support. There's obvious reasons. Why did they move out? Again no one can give you advice because your story is a half truth. As in her side of the story is the other half. Imho you need take a step back. The most important thing here is your grandchild. Personal advice? Stop. Apologize. Make the negative situation into a positive. You'll be amazed at the results. Cause and effect brother. Happy Birthday Again. |

I do understand the hurt feelings though OP. Hopefully you can plan something fun for the next one - maybe invite the whole family out for a birthday dinner next year. It's OK to treat for your own big day! |

Ba rum pum pum pum... Ba rum pum pum pum... Boom boom boom. The war on landlords and serfdom continues. The government should be the landlord. Allowing landlords to be middlemen only breeds corruption and ensures yearly inflation increases. |
