People are invested in their arguments. And it is literally killing them.
From the Daily memphian:

She just wanted to be close to her husband, just wanted to be near him as he struggled to live.

Danton Barto was on a ventilator, his body fighting desperately against COVID-19. Shelly Beth Barto had tested positive herself.

So she drove to the hospital parking lot and sat in her car alone.

“I’m right here baby,” she posted. “I’m right here. I didn’t know what else to do so I came to the hospital and I’m sitting in the parking lot, looking at this building wondering where you are. You always said you could feel me. Please baby please feel me right now. Fight Danton . . . take my strength baby, please.”

It was impossibly sweet and utterly heartbreaking.

And it was, tragically, not enough.

Barto, the leading tackler in Memphis football history, died of COVID-19.

That doesn’t make him exceptional. Barto is one of 627,000 Americans who have died — alone in their hospital rooms — because of this disease.

But, please, let this death be the one.

Let this death be the one that nudges you to get vaccinated.

Especially now that the FDA has given full approval to the Pfizer vaccine, let this death be the one that inspires you to roll up your sleeve and save your life.

Don’t do it for me or any of the others who have been hectoring you for the past few months.

Danton Barto was the leading tackler in Memphis football history. Do it for Danton Barto, No. 59, as tough a linebacker as there ever was.He was quick and fearless and indestructible. He was the heartbeat of the defense that was the heartbeat of the team.

He finished at Memphis, played in the CFL, coached an arena team to a championship.

He got married, became a father, divorced and fell in love again.

Shelly Beth told me their story a week ago. Just hearing it, I could tell they were crazy in love.

He asked her out by text the first time. She said she was free the next few days.

“No, I mean in an hour,” he texted back.

And then they were off.

That’s how Barto was, direct and headlong.

But when it came to getting vaccinated, he took his time.

“We talked about it a lot,” Shelly Beth said. “But we just hadn’t done it. We weren’t against it, but we weren’t for it, either. We just didn’t know.”

This does not make them unusually conflicted or unusually stubborn. Even with the recent burst of vaccinations, fewer than half of Tennesseans who are eligible have been vaccinated.

It’s an astonishing failure of our society — and of social media, in particular — that we have arrived at this place. That presented with the opportunity to safeguard ourselves in a worldwide pandemic, more than half of us have said, “Nah, I’ll pass.”

So we read an endless stream of stories about people dying in the hospital, lamenting their decision to not be vaccinated. But still, the stories don’t stop.

Saturday, it was Phil Valentine, a Nashville radio host and vocal vaccine skeptic. He declined to get vaccinated because his chances of dying were “way less than one percent.” When he was first infected with the virus, he said he “may take a day off just as a precaution.”

Then, after Valentine was hospitalized and put on a ventilator, his brother urged everyone to get the vaccine.

The Bartos are victims of people like Valentine, people who have turned this into just another issue with “two sides.”

At this point, the decision about whether to be vaccinated is emotional more than rational. People are invested in their arguments. And it is literally killing them.

An average of 20,000 Tennesseans a day are getting vaccinated, nearly double what it was back on July 4. But to get to 51 percent of those eligible, we’ll need 200,000 more to get vaccinated. That’s 10 more days at 20,000 a day just to get to more than half the Tennesseans who are eligible.

So let this case be the one that persuades you. Let this be the one that causes you to rethink.

Barto wasn’t an old man. He has a son who desperately loves him. He just got remarried, back in March. He and Shelly Beth reveled in their adventures. They should have had decades of adventures ahead.

Instead, he spent the last days of his life alone in the hospital, while Shelly Beth sat alone in her car outside.

My friend John Stacy, a longtime Tigers fan, is starting a campaign to get Barto’s No. 59 retired. That seems like a worthy cause.

A more immediate way to honor Barto would be to get the shot that would have saved his life.

Wouldn’t it be great if 59 Memphis fans got vaccinated for Barto? And then 5,900? And then 5,900 more? Wouldn’t it be great if every Tigers fan who was at “College GameDay” on Beale Street committed to get vaccinated? Every Tigers fan who ever stepped into the Liberty Bowl?

The guy was an inspirational player. Let him inspire us one last time.

“Whatever you do, baby, get vaccinated,” he texted Shelly Beth from the hospital. “Get that shot for me.”

snnnf, snnnf,

That's such heart-wrenching propaganda.

Probably added a little more pop like this.

"“Whatever you do, baby, get vaccinated,” he texted Shelly Beth from the hospital. “Get that shot for mmmeaaaah..."

Shelly texted, "Baby are you ok, baby are you there."

She never received a reply. They had to pry his phone out of his cold covid dead body."

I have a friend who lost her 55 yr old Husband of 30yrs yesterday. Completely healthy, not obese, no high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. They were partially vax’d & both contracted Delta, she was fine just minor flu like symptoms. It went to his lungs. They first called EMT’s who advised against transport as hospitals were full & he likely wouldn’t be admitted. (July 30). Advised taking him to urgent care but he got so winded trying to assist him to vehicle that they found a hospital w space. (I didn’t even know this hospital was in our area, definitely not a first choice!) After seemingly rallying a little post anti viral meds & with oxygen support he ended up in ICU as his body was just greatly weakened from fighting the virus. Never could get oxygen levels above 80% for any long period of time. He went on a ventilator 3 days ago, celebrating his 55th b’day in the hospital.

Hospitals in our area are overrun. They are setting up makeshift ICU’s & COVID units. Patients being treated directly in ER, taking equipment from all other parts of hospital including children’s wards. I can’t schedule a needed bone marrow biopsy & we have at several times not had ambulances available for heart attack, stroke, accident victims. This is very real people, argue about how we got here, but don’t deny reality.

So what's the point of getting the Magic Vax if it doesn't even work anymore?

The vax doesn't work. That's the reality.

You might as well be telling people to drink antifreeze.

Your argument has some merit, but you are missing an essential piece. For those of us who have a faith-based or moral objection to taking a solution which was developed or tested using the cells of a murdered child, we have no choice. I am not going to give up an eternity living with my loving Creator for a few more years in this dark, immoral world. So kill me.

Because your odds are better with the vax than without. It’s not perfect, but it’s better, at least for us folks over 30. So many of the things I see people using as vax “side effects” examples are just milder cases of what people experienced w COVID. (Heart concerns a huge one!)

I have an ICU nurse friend who contracted COVID early last year and had to leave his position to take a less physically demanding one due to the after affects. Plus a healthy 40-ish friend who contracted early, losing her Dad to it after 40+ days in hospital, who had to have her heart stopped & restarted several weeks after “recovering”.

There was so much politicizing & reactionary comments re an evolving situation early that many folks just aren’t thinking reasonably.

My wife's uncle died of covid a couple weeks ago... He was fully Vaxxed, he is the only person I personally know who has died of covid... I know 3 other people who were hospitalized, 2 unvaxxed in the so called first wave and one vaxxed now... I know many people who have tested positive if you can trust the tests... Right now, my 3 yrs old grandson, my daughter and myself are considered covid cases... We have been sick for over a week, nothing major at all not even the baddest flu I have seen but we really don't know it's covid... Grandson got positive test, daughter got negative test before symptoms and 3 days after her symptoms started. There is no doubt that my daughter and I were infected by grandson he is literally the only sick person we have been around and he has literally coughed in our face multiple times while taking care of him... I have cleaned up his vomit and diarrhea... Anyway, my point is, I don't trust anything about this so called covid pandemic, the tests, the hype, the vaccines or anything.

 Quoting: PhysicalGeographer:MV80ODg19"TkwXzRFN0EzNDZD

...then proceeds to spend the entire article using emotional ploys to try and convince people to get the "vaccine" without making a single, sound, fact based, rational argument for it.

So here are some actual facts;

1.) It has been the US govt's official position that population control (as in reducing) was in our nations best security interest since ostensibly the end of WWII, but we know since at least 1974 when the "National Security Study Memorandum 200" or NSSM 200 was incorporated as official policy and classified (since declassified).

2.) 6 corporations control 90%+ of the media you have access to.

3.) According to a 2009 study by Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, with the exception of CBS every major media outlet in the United States shares at least one board member with at least one drug company.

4.) All medical facilities are paid an additional 20% by Medicare under "The Cares Act" for any discharge or death certificate which lists "COVID-19" as cause. Under CDC guidance ""... the underlying cause of death are expected to result in COVID-19 being the underlying cause more often than not." and it can be "...assumed to have contributed..." without testing.

5.) The reporting of all deaths attributable to other viruses (corona or otherwise), influenza, or normal seasonal cold and flu bugs dropped precipitously to almost non- existent in direct correlation to the advent of the "pandemic", in which everything thereafter just became reported as "COVID".

6.) The US govt (and literally every other developed Country) has an extensive history of secretly experimenting on their own populations. (I could provide a litany of links, but don't know how to post them?)

7.) The FDA and HHS are compromised by infiltration from individuals from the pharmaceutical Industry. (Again, could provide a litany of links - don't know how).

8.) An amendment in the National Defense Act of 2013 (HR 4310) nullified the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 which prohibited the govt from using propaganda against us.

9.) By the very nature of an EUA for the "vaccines" means they are experimental. The FDA's instructions to the drug companies producing them specifically states it must be disclosed that they are "experimental" to satisfy informed consent requirements.

10.) The govt. is lying. No link should be necessary.

We don't know why they're lying, only that they are. So prudence would dictate we refrain from doing that which they want us to; because if it was to our benefit - they wouldn't be lying about it.

Peace

Re: People are invested in their arguments. And it is literally killing them.
From the Daily memphian:

"...At this point, the decision about whether to be vaccinated is emotional more than rational. People are invested in their arguments."
 Quoting: PhysicalGeographer:MV80ODg19"TkwXzRFN0EzNDZD

...then proceeds to spend the entire article using emotional ploys to try and convince people to get the "vaccine" without making a single, sound, fact based, rational argument for it.

So here are some actual facts;

Peace

Thank you... That gets down to the whole point... It doesn't even matter what the conspiracy is now... We can argue all day long about motives and ultimate plans, it still comes down to the facts of the gaslighting, the lies, the bribery, the coercion and the suppression... Those obvious facts alone tell you that you shouldn't do anything they want you to.
