I was awakened some time after by the sound of extremely heavy wind and hard droplets of water spraying against our bedroom window. I could feel a pressure differential in the air. My waking brain somehow associated it with a missed alarm and for just a groggy moment I thought it was “happening.” I literally threw my pants/holster on and went outside to check. It was a freak storm. So fucking random. I would hazard a guess that waking up to an actual tidal wave or rapid inundation and flood waters is not a pleasant way to start your day. This morning felt different....I was half awake, and thought for a split second, "how would I know if it went off 5 hours ago - before I woke up and checked?"....how would ANYBODY KNOW!!! People who don't know anything about this thing would just wake up like any regular day....and be taken completely off guard by a sudden WAVE flowing down their street/neighborhood or whatever. Scared the living shit outta me! I thanked God that I am "in the know," and have been able to (somewhat) prepare. Not that there is a damn thing we can do to "prepare" for teotwawki. You’re right. It’s a pretty awful situation for 99% of people. I really and truly hope we can get this message out to more average folks. We are a couple miles from the coast…this place would never look the same again. WhiteAngel started a phone tree to provide critical incident alerts to members during Night Shift (til 6AM) so for some added peace of mind you might want to see if she can include you on it. She will probably assign you a number or numbers to call once you receive the alert. I think she has the right idea and we all need to pull together, circle the wagons and get a system in place for the post-GLP world that many of us could step into. I have a bad feeling about it all, one that impels me to prepare for the worst. Pray For Ohio |

Been watching it most of the afternoon while working, have yet to see any huge waves of lava being ejected. The smoke is blowing off the side right now so you can see the actual vent a bit, and i'm not seeing nearly anything come up out of there during the day. Not compared to the giant explosions we've witnessed that are getting worse each evening, and reach nearly 2x the height of the entire cone....not sure why. Also, noticed the EQs happen mostly during the day, and not at night. Before it erupted, we'd get countless EQs all day in waves, and then it would "sleep" in the evening, does anyone else recall that? Like it would only pulse upwards each day a little bit til she finally broke through.
