Nothing illegal about interviewing multiple people for a job that has been filled by a preselected applicant. Just the way business is done.

The job has to be posted. HR forces mgt to interview at least top 3 applicants. The preselected candidate still has to interview and pass. HR is sitting in and they don’t know the fix is in so HR has a vote. I’m a hiring mgr, word of mouth is best way to hire. Applicant gets 10 points added to his cutting score for each recommendation from an employee.

His resume has to pass a computer graded skills/experience/education algorithm so we’re not hiring unqualified people. If you do well in the interview your name absolutely is kept on file as a recruitable applicant.
