I used to work at a Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. They were training me to be a bartender there so I needed to know how to use their computer software. They started me at what they called the Hostess station in the restaurant to learn how to use the computer. The bone heads I worked with would non-jokingly refer to me as the hostess instead of the host. I was always correcting them. I would have been less annoyed if they were kidding. This was in Tennessee and they called shopping carts "buggies" and all sodas "Cokes". They also called winter hats "toboggans" for some reason. After breakfast was awesome because you could help yourself to the buffet. https://imgur.com/EItT0W7 A toboggan was a death sled you went down a snowy hill on. Steering was not an option. I had a few growing up. The snow had to be very packed to use them. I wondered if the people in Tennessee used to call their winter hats "toboggan hats" and somehow over time it was abbreviated to "toboggans".
