Gov. Abbott issues executive order that bans vaccine mandates by 'all entities' in Texas

Still I really wouldn't trust anyone in the government much if at all.

Pretty much all of them have shown that they're willing to turn on dime and betray the people if they think they can get away with it.

Viewed through a psych lens, your "easily 50%" indicates truly principled people, which also suggests more rational rather than emotional thinkers. If your HR Director was worth his/her salt, this data would be used to benefit the company because the trait is positively associated with high performance and production.

President Trump endorsed our great Gov. Abbott for reelection - they are on the same team and have been, and about President Trump not acknowledging him as far as the ban on vaccine mandates Gov. Abbott is not in need of praise as though he is doing something special, he is doing what is right and what every Patriot Governor should do, no surprise here. Gov. Abbot also banned masks unless someone wants to wear them, their choice, no forced compliance.

Are you taking warfarin? I obviously don’t know your situation and you probably know this already but just in case you don’t: There are other types of blood thinners you can possibly take that don’t require monitoring. I was on something called xarelto I think. It’s more expensive but better (in my opinion) due to no annoying trips to the doctors’s office. And this was before the mask nonsense.

He may well be but doesn’t change the fact many of us (employees) aren’t going down without a fight. Many have called our representatives multiple times, etc. I can tell you after many many months of feeling absolutely helpless and hopeless about the situation we’re in I now feel a glimmer of “undoom?”

Whether the “undoom” is a real, tangible thing (like is something good actually happening) I don’t know. It’s the feeling of hope, of actually being able to do SOMETHING instead of whine on the internet about it.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas, do hereby order the following on a statewide basis effective immediately:
1. No governmental entity can compel any individual to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. I hereby suspend Section 81.082(f)(1) of the Texas Health and Safety Code, and any other relevant statutes, to the extent necessary to ensure that no governmental entity can compel any individual to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.


2. State agencies and political subdivisions shall not adopt or enforce any order, ordinance, policy, regulation, rule, or similar measure that requires an individual to provide, as a condition of receiving any service or entering any place, documentation regarding the individual’s vaccination status for any COVID-19 vaccine. I hereby suspend Section 81.085(i) of the Texas Health and Safety Code, and any other relevant statutes, to the extent necessary to enforce this prohibition. This paragraph does not apply to any documentation requirements necessary for the administration of a COVID-19 vaccine.


3. Any public or private entity that is receiving or will receive public funds through any means, including grants, contracts, loans, or other disbursements of taxpayer money, shall not require a consumer to provide, as a condition of receiving any service or entering any place, documentation regarding the consumer’s vaccination status for any COVID-19 vaccine. No consumer may be denied entry to a facility financed in whole or in part by public funds for failure to provide documentation regarding the consumer’s vaccination status for any COVID-19 vaccine.


4. Nothing in this executive order shall be construed to limit the ability of a nursing home, state supported living center, assisted living facility, or long-term care facility to require documentation of a resident’s vaccination status for any COVID-19 vaccine.

So how does this affect Southwest Airlines which is based in Texas? Will they back off their self imposed mandates?

The ball is now in their court: follow the EO or not. Comply with the EO or take the fines and sue. Abbott just swung open the door to a shitload of legal work and law suits.

ETA: Not to mention the huge number of lawsuits by violated employees if the companies do not comply. Attorneys and law firms across the state are celebrating their projected bank.
