Seems it’s now being treated as a probable Islamic terror attack according to the Independent - a left wing paper that would make that claim unless there were some substance to it.

This is literally few mins from my house absolutely shocking. Sir David was a good man , a family man and dedicated father. Rip. Went up there earlier today after hearing about it. Swamped by media and police from all over. I stupidly walked into media zone was asked if I was a journalist by armed police.. Standing with other locals just observing we were all asked questions by national media outlets was crazy. Dark day today for the people of Southend nothing like this happened before..thoughts with Sir Davids family
