I've thought about it, too. I'm fairly resourceful, and I'm quite able to do without all the comforts that we've come to know.

But for me, it boils down to the scale of the event. A minor catastrophe that turns everything upside down and inside out for awhile, that's something I'm willing to survive. Something like that would build character (and would think the herd of some characters).

A genuine ELE, though . . . there's a reason it's called extinction level event. I'm not sure I want to participate. Que sera, sera.

Hmmm... lot's of uncle intel on the boards these last few weeks. Definitely curious that global conscience is reacting to greater world situations.

I'm in the Chicago metro area, no signs of empty shelves, costco's, grocery stores fully stocked up, produce a bit more expensive lately - feeling the pinch of inflation for sure.

Other than gang-bangers killing each other and jacking yuppies volvos - seems quiet.

I'm in a green suburb with plenty of water sources, 6 months of food stocked up, ammo good to go as well. If crap happens, no place to run to really as any non-metro areas are far away, so we'll just ride it out, whatever it is.

It would depend on a lot of factors....

If it were a tsunami, you could NOT stay in an area below about 200-300' above sea level (conservative MINIMUM), not knowing what height of wave were coming.

Other kinds of pandemonium would require thoughtful considerations.

I don't think you could put a hard and fast rule on which is better, without knowing WHAT kind of SHTF you're talking about.

the one thing that I think is a big possibility is the chance for nationwide fires. china has been making these electronics that are ubiquitous in everyone's homes for decades. anything that is plugged in or connected to wifi could be suspect.

amish don't rip out all the wiring in their homes for no reason.

think of what would happen if we got hit by a solar flare that was big enough to fry every inch of wiring around the globe.

Its defiantly been a strange night. Im currently in Central Jersey, and there have been tons of planes flying around out there earlier this evening, enough that neighbors were also out on the street looking up at what was going on.

Besides, my theory is the Chicom Attack is imminent, what with people starting to scrutinize those Cargo Ships, surrounding the US and in the Great Lakes.

Not to mention Cargo containers are getting dumped all over the place, very suspicious. Not to mention a Joint Chicom/Russian Fleet on a direct course for the West Coast USA.

Too much suspicious shit, I got my bag ready. Though, MonkeyWerx mentioned activity at Yellowstone, so who knows.

I haven't read the entire 5 pages but I am also thinking....what about the RODS OF GOD?
