I have yet to meet a 'woman' in Utah, and I have lived here since 1991.

I did a lot of research before retiring from SoCal to north Idaho over four years ago. Best decision ever. The crime rate is practically nil. The culture up here is to respect the other person's privacy but to pitch right in and help if help is needed. I was constantly on the alert in California but very relaxed up here. I enjoy the four seasons climate, and so far the winters have been quite beautiful.

Housing prices are going up but if you own a house in Cali you will be okay with the prices up here; get out now while prices are still good down there, and interest rates are still low. Southwest flies to Spokane where you can rent a car and Idaho is just right next to Spokane.

The prepper mindset is hardwired into the general public. Nobody up here thinks it's weird to have a concealed weapon on their hip, a year or two of shelf stable food at home, a four wheel drive pickup truck with Trump 2024 bumper sticker, and a chainsaw in the tool box. We have one of the world's most fertile river valleys (shh, don't tell Bill Gates), abundant fresh water, mountain ranges, and evergreen trees for miles. If you break down on the side of the road you will sit there for approximately three minutes until some nice person pulls over to see what they can do to help. Everybody talks to you like you are family. It's a sweet place and I suggest you check it out.
