My child turns two on December 1st and she will never attend public school

I hated school when I was a kid.

I had it pegged as brainwashing within my first few days of school, but my classmates couldn't understand why I was laughing at so much of what the teacher said, and why I was arguing with her.

I tried to explain the evil effects of brainwashing but my classmates couldn't understand.

I was saying in the Seventies in high school that I wouldn't marry a woman who wouldn't stay home to raise her children - especially because I would never send any children of mine to school, which was no more than an evil babysitter.

It made me very unpopular. Girls hated me and called me a "male chauvinist". Yeah, they even used that term. I was the worst example of a caveman they had ever seen.

So be it, because I hated school that much. Hour after long boring hour, I felt like my life was being wasted.

Now, I'm much older. I have seen bright children turned into silent and neurotic, unhappy people by the school system. I have heard them cry out that they hate their lives. I've seen them huddled in misery, with their hoodies pulled tight around their faces in school offices where demented teachers played at being cheerful and oblivious.

I was appalled by the insane unrighteousness of teachers who allowed all the other boys to gang up and attack me repeatedly on the playground, but only punished me for defending myself. And I didn't even hurt the other kids. I'm half convinced the teachers wanted to hit me but knew they couldn't get away with it, so they wanted the other kids to hit me. They always laughed when the teachers hauled only me off to detention. It was a hell of madness that I had to endure for too many years.

My advice was always: "never send your kids to school".

Where did teenage girls get such terms, and what did they think they were talking about?

Same here. I will always homeschool.

My cousin Aubrey was homeschooled and ended up brilliant and a successful freelance photographer.

She just happens to speak 4 languages fluently too.

A lot of people think homeschool is isolated, except that's not how they did it. They had a local homeschool network and would switch houses from week to week in tradeoff. It worked out well and the kids actually learned better in small, focussed groups.

Oh, and she graduated way early too. Like at 16 she was already ready for college entrance exams. Watching that group develope in homeschool forever has made me a believer that public schools are not only worthless, but counter-educational. They actually hold kids back, not advance them forward. All of them were finishing up highschool credits before they were 17. They were light-years ahead of the curve.
