I’m the eldest son among 7 siblings with 2 sisters who are older.

Our dad died in 2011 and our mother in late 2018. They truly were the glue that held it all together.

No other sibs were interested in joining the family biz except myself. I ran it for years both before and after pops retired therefore I was privy to things they weren’t. Dad and I did things a certain way and we made lots of money.

When it came time to settle the estate the sibs went batshit nuts with endless group-think assumptions, accusations, etc etc. Finally we chose to liquidate everything and go our separate ways.

Jealousy, greed and resentments have pretty much changed the whole remaining family dynamic and most likely for good among us sibs. It’s not so much that people change in as much as it is that people’s true character finally comes out after others are gone.

They make my skin crawl if we’re being honest.
