Biden’s ‘Infrastructure’ Bill Contains Backdoor ‘Kill Switch’ For Cars

Can anyone tell me how Joe Biden would shut off your 1972 Plymouth Valiant, or disable its slant six?

We need to keep our cars in good repair so we don't have to replace them with newer models. I am grateful that the lure of a new vehicle does not affect me.

I am a practical person. Although when I purchased my new car 6 years ago I could have bought a far fancier model I instead chose a Chevy Spark. Manual transmission, manual door locks, 40 miles to the gallon. I am a small person so it fits me like a glove. It has blue tooth and a backup camera which is plenty of technology for me.

But it came with Onstar. Not only did I never use it but they told me they could not disconnect it. Once a month I would get a report about my tire pressure, how much longer I could go before I needed an oil change etc. This is redundant. You get all this info every time you start your car right there on your dash. Seriously? I don't need to know this everyday from multiple sources.

Finally last year I got the notice that it would be disconnected. Yeah!

I don't want Alexa listening to me. I will not allow a smart meter on my house. If we purchase a "smart" appliance I have learned not to connect it to my phone, because, yes, I know my oven needs cleaning. I do not want my frig ordering milk.

Good grief. All this spying is turning me into a Luddite.

Laws could be passed, like at the California loading docks, to only allow vehicles of a certain age on the road. Therefore, vehicles only having computers and Wifi will be allowed on the road. All others could be ticketed and/or impounded...

… and bad guys know - run without a plate - or with someone else’s plate - the cops search plate to get vin - to wrong vehicle.

…. Unless - your bluetooth car is broadcasting its vin number like an IP address….

Who is going to pay to install the infrastructure? I know several US states that don’t have a viable EV charging infrastructure in place. Who is going to elect the politicians who enact the laws? The Controllers are broke, resigning, and heading to their bunkers. Their time is too short.

OnStar could be shut off by pulling a fuse in the first three generations. Not sure about now.
