Have more faith in your dog, they know where they live. My 4 month Shiba escaped and spent the night in hail/rain around the neighborhood. She reappeared in the morning on her own.

For a lost dog:

Find some of your smelliest NOT clean clothes with your scent. Put it/them outside slightly elevated so your scent gets picked up by the wind.

Put the dogs water bowl, favorite chewy and sleep cushion outside nearby where they can't get wet.

Check often and your dog will be back in a couple days if ever.

Glad dog is back

I’ve cried for a tiny lost kitten who had slipped into the linen closet without my notice and found a place to hide.

A while neighborhood panicked over a lost child who was sleeping between bed and mattress.

Dogs run in storms hit a little dog may have hidden.
