Right price is $1.50 for a 12 ounce package. And it better be cheese, not "pasteurized process cheese product". Those concoctions can be vile, even Kraft.

I liked that stuff as a child; you could make different shapes out of it, then eat it. It's definitely not actual Cheese, more like "Play-Doh".

Walmart does that with the blocks of Velveeta cheese here. WTF?

There's lots of things that don't really need refrigeration, but will last longer if you refrigerate them.

Most cheeses, butter, garlic stuffed olives, most condiments can sit out in moderate temperatures. Things that are sugary, salty, vinegar based.

The cheese in your pic is similar to Velveeta, which also sits out on the shelf.

That Kraft shit ain't cheese, no matter how much the word is printed on the packaging.

When I left my big, beautiful kitchen and fridge back in civilization I had to learn to work with a lot less refrigeration, so I researched how different foods could be stored. Velveeta is one I looked up in particular.

It has a shelf life of about six months. I mean, you could still eat it after that it just might not taste as good.
