Was the Benny Hill show really that sexist?

Loved Benny Hill. Never missed his show when it was on PBS. I don't think he was sexist he just gave his audience what they wanted. Watched documentary and he had a sad life and death. For as much joy as he brought to others didn't seem to have much for himself.

I didnt know it was on PBS. There was a lot of groping going on by old men on that show.

One of the best shows ever. Completely ridiculous and stupid but a good show to sit and relax and forget about anything important. Plus of course the beautiful women. That was a show when men were still men. After Benny Hill the Dave Allen show used to come on.

Yeah. Back in the 70s the only way to get Brit TV was PBS. Bennie,the two ronnies and Fawlty Towers had me rolling all the time. Great television.

That brings back fond memories. When I was in high school, I would wake up tired the next morning because I stayed up late to watch Benny Hill and Dave Allen with my grandma.

I watched The Benny Hill Show with my dad when I was a kid. I thought it was hilarious! Fond memories.

sexist is sort of an ambiguous, political word. sounds a like a profession. like someone who is a pro at sex

Watched Benny Hill and The Lawrence Welk Show with my Papa btw, definitely fond mamaries, I mean memories.

Not that sexist for the era it was in. You couldn't air most TV hits today from the 60's and 70's. Jefferson's and Archie Bunker would start riots in the streets now.

Same here, in the USA it was available on many PBS stations.

I remember Jackie Wright too he was Benny's side kick.

Sexist? Not for that era. Contraversial at best. Though I didn't like the show. Something about a creepy little man bouncing around sniffing on women...

The only ones that thought it was sexist were the ugly dykes that hate men anyway. The same ones who worry about their reproductive rights even though no man would touch them with a ten foot pole.

The women on the show always rejected his advances, if anything it was making fun of what men will do for pretty women.

I miss the old world.
