The war concept won't work anyways. Things are past that point. Perhaps a few years ago it would have been different, the idea of "Some common threat is imperiling us all, you must accept our leadership" might have been able to silent dissent and maintain their desired status quo. However, that window is shut now. They cried wolf, and cried wolf hard, and now their cries fall on deaf ears.

There are two types of people out there who actively *want* the world as we know it to end, whether it be a nuclear war, CME, asteroid hit... whatever. It doesn't matter to them as long as it happens.

The first type wish this because they believe they will be a survivor and then they will be free to rape, rob, pillage, plunder, and murder to their heart's content with no consequences. These people harbor sick fantasies they want so desperately to act on but won't as long as society is functioning because they know what they want to do in those fantasies is wrong and they fear getting caught.

If the world ends and they are among the survivors, they would be free of that inhibition, or so they believe.

The reality is they probably won't survive the initial event, but even if they do, it will be even more difficult to enact their fantasies, not easier. The work they will need to put into just surviving will overwhelm them, and they won't have time for sick games. But if they somehow manage that and they get caught, there will be no trial, no jury, no verdict... only an executioner. And it probably won't be a quick and painless death.

The second type is the religious fanatic, who believes the end of the world as described in their particular sacred texts will herald in a new age where those that have opposed or oppressed them will be vanquished. More importantly, their beliefs will be proven "right" and they get to have their "I told you so!" moment.

Either way, they psychology is pretty much the same: Those who see themselves as powerless believe that the end of the world will make them powerful for the first time in their lives.

These people are completely delusional and extremely dangerous. If you are one of these people, seek counseling.

People in general are extremely tired of society, anyone with even a half functional brain capable of independent though can see the future in store for us all if things are allowed to continue as they are. In a lot of peoples minds nuclear war and the end of society is preferable because they think they'll be able to run for the hills and live off the land and take part in the rebirth of a new world.

I’m a Christian, but believe me, I have prayed since I was young that I would NOT be around to live through the end times as described in the Bible. That is some horrific stuff, and as much as I want this world straightened out, I know what it’s going to entail to get there.

The rapture cult, which has no scriptural basis, thinks that they’ll be elsewhere when the bad times come, so they have no problem desiring to hasten Christ’s arrival. If they realized that those here were going to suffer more than almost any generation of Christians since Roman times, they would not be so eager.
