From what I've seen, Americans seem to like upper class/posh English accents, but have a strong dislike of normal English accents which they regard as very common sounding.

Brits to me have alot of different variations on their accent. I had a Brit boss who was a Londoner and his accent was very different from a more northern accent. I've heard others too. I prefer the non posh everyday kind of accents.
