It's fairly disgusting to eat, frankly. I made some back in 2011.

Maybe think about freeze drying, lasts even longer and isn't like eating a big bite of lard.

You can also pressure can your meats.

^depends how hungry you are, besides, we have numbed our tastebuds and cravings by being overfed and eating the wrong stuff.
Many people dont know what real hunger is. When you do, you'll start to crave different things than before.
We are "hunting" food nowadays with low calories, utter madness in a way. go back to the basics.
as a vegan I craved a lot of dairy... but after years of lack nutrients in my body, I just craved meat products.
I'm not a carnivore, far from it, but in a survival situation in cold/temperate areas, pemmican would be the best choice I think.
