but now, they have made them differently, and the cardboard doesn’t chip off and go everywhere like it did before

I have one in the bedroom and one in the living room behind the furniture and she’s using them both, I’m so relieved

If you take away their claws then turn them loosed to fend for themselves, they will have a hard time catching food and escaping or defending themselves.

Not to mention it has to be a painful recovery. If you value your furniture more than your pet, you shouldn't have a pet. Period.

I've found that cats love the sisel rope clawing stands too. If you live in the country, go cut a big stump for them and stick it in the corner of the room somewhere. They love to stretch and claw on trees too.

You clip the claws down to the nub then file them smooth. Then you must clean and groom the cat daily, because now it can't do it themselves.

If you are going to declaw your cat, you damn sure shouldn't be leaving it behind when you move or can't care for it anymore and you DAMN SURE SHOULDN'T BE LETTING IT OUT to roam. Imagine them trying to climb a tree to get away from the dog chasing them. They can't. Imagine them trying to defend themselves against another cat who wants to claw their eyes out. They can't. Imagine them trying to catch a field mouse to eat since they are lost or left to fend for themselves. They can't.

The nails will bleed if you cut it to the quick. You have to be careful when trimming cat nails. It's no different than trimming a dogs nails which will also bleed if you clip the vein. And believe me, if you cut it too deep, it may not stop bleeding.
