Its time to stop these ashole politicians from talking about social fricking issues and concentrating on keeping our families alive. Dear Patient, Due to unprecedented COVID-related supply chain disruptions in China, all hospitals in the United States are experiencing a shortage of contrast media (sometimes referred to as X-ray dye) used to perform CAT or CT scans. This may affect ERCP procedures as well. As at all U.S. hospitals, LVHN and other imaging providers’ ability to perform these scans in all but the most critical cases will be limited until these supply chain issues are corrected. This shortage has been caused by the Chinese government’s COVID lockdown of Shanghai, where most of the world’s supply of contrast media is manufactured and then subsequently distributed by GE Healthcare and Bracco. This disruption is expected to last until at least the end of June. LVHN is exploring various strategies to conserve contrast media, including using other imaging technologies and materials and postponing non-emergency scans. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7177419 Literally know someone who just got an MRI/Catscan last Monday. MRI's are not affected. They use magnetic fields instead of radiation like cat/ct. The contrast media is designed for ct/cat scans MRI with contrast use a dye that is Gadolinium-based. CT’s use Iodine-based contrast. Both are used to enhance images and can detect certain things better. Many people that have pericarditis and myocarditis from the vaccine are saying they were only able to get the diagnosis through MRI (with) contrast, and that in many people, it wouldn’t show up without the contrast. . |

Though the run on contrast mediums is probably due to a marked increase of scans for pulmonary embolisms caused by the clot shot, as a previous AC alluded to. But I came across this. Anytime China wants to challenge us and fuck with us they hold this over our heads. China will not even allow the fda to inspect the plants that make our medicine that China continuously contaminates with carcinogens. Our medicines should be manufactured here. This is so fucked up and illogical also extremely dangerous. Ditto for our foods. Animals being shipped to China for processing instead of processing here. Insanity! They can still perform CT scan's without contrast... this is a nothing burger. What you neglect to state is that the accuracy and detail are much higher w/contrast than w/out. Sure you can get tons of different scans w/out, but ask yourself, “Self, does an accurate diagnosis mean anything when I am suspecting I may have a blood clot or leaky heart valve? Or “It’s fine if you don’t get a good image of my brain, A tumor takes so long to develop I should be ok w/out contrast” Do YOU want to the one uttering those words, how about regarding your wife, child, parent, sibling? “If it’s so small we need contrast to see it, It’s not worth worrying about right” No it’s not required, Just like a lot of d2d shit we go through.
