They have been fooled into thinking they can be good people by literally wearing their "goodness" on their faces rather than actually just BEING a good person. It's the difference between 'good intentions' and actually just being good overall.

Good Intentions were manipulated and weaponized as a tool for division, control and authority worship (false idol) and many a Christian has fallen for this deception whether they realize it yet or not. This is why they can completely disregard and abandon ALL their other beliefs and actual goodness and attack others for this false belief installed in them. not even realizing the utter hypocrisy and evil they are committing in doing so. blinded by the deception and mind controlled to the core. and to this day many still do not even realize it. their actions are based on a deception and false doctrine commanded of them by false leaders and other deceived people. The Beam and The Mote Parable applies here. They simply do not see. "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Answer is they've been deceived and thus are unrighteous in their actions but unaware of it. hence the evils that have been committed in the name of this 'version' of goodness sold to them. sold literally in many cases.

Think a bit broader. All gods are man made or they are true of and by themselves. The writer is not telling any particular god believers just their god is a tale. Rather all gods are tales. So any believer could have written your reply. Just change Christ to their god(s). Your choice is based on human sacrifice. Odd but there it is. Kill a virgin and everything is better. Toss one on a cross or into a volcano. Its a very popular theme in many god tales. You think yours is true and the others think there's is true. Some just decline belief in any of them.
