Starving people is not how to rule over people. Look at any king from the Middle Ages. The only way they stay in power is to keep people fed and not hungry.

Fed enough to stave off hunger pains but never an abundance. Only capitalism can create abundance.

You should care. Some may NEED to live in or near a city due to their life skills that allow them to make a living. They are faced with leaving the job that allows them to feed their family.

Try having a little compassion for your fellow human being. After they finish off the city dwellers, they will focus on everyone else and I doubt YOU are among the great minds who will survive.

The people in the middle ages and even later were kept in a state of perpetual starvation and malnutrition and it kept them in line.

They peasants in many periods were forced to live off a diet of turnips and bread. They weren't even allowed to hunt. The most meat many could get was catching tiny baby eels that surge through the canals at high tide. Even then they had to do that in secret. Even in later Ireland the people were forced to live off potatoes while the English got their beef and lamb.

No starvation and malnutrition is a very good tool for control. Protein and meat deprived peasants can't offer much of a revolt, especially when the guards and soldiers are all "beefeaters".
