The people of Taiwan were subjects (loyal) to the Emperor of Japan until the USA gave it to Nationalist China after the war. They were a distinctly different race with a different language and culture than China, but Truman the Democrat did not give a shit.

In 1949, as the Nationalist were collapsing, they fled to Taiwan creating a Chinese island.

The only connection Taiwan has with China is the RoC made it its home base for 30 years.

If China moves on Taiwan we are legally bound, honor bound and duty bound to defend it. The best defense is a good offence--flame CCP up to the max.

If the USA turns its back on Taiwan, any international agreements we have will be viewed with great distrust--if not disgust.

Taiwan was a Dutch colony in the 17th century... but as I've said, the country of Taiwan has a native population that is aborigine...that population's culture is more relayed to Pacific Islander. They are not of Chinese heritage, and we're there first.

I should add... I have friends that are both Taiwanese and Chinese, and history is history. I have spent time in several cities in mainland China, Hainan Island, and the SARS of Hong Kong and Macau.
