JAZZZ50 2020 The SHTF literally as TP ran out. we went from being over the target, to actually being the target. too close to the truth. if i had a dollar for everytime someone says "merge" without using the word, i'd b so green i'd b King of Mars. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 79017631 United States 06/21/2022 10:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That’s like saying, since you didn’t want to further educate yourself beyond the 8th grade, large companies should subsidize your living forever. Makes no sense. Do you realize there are several consequences for raising the minimum wage? Here’s a few examples: Quoting: Say no to Minimum Wage! 74642967 1. Minimum wage is now $20 an hour, you are an employer and you have two candidates in front of you. A blue haired 400lb Cheeto eating video gaming 22 year old with no formal education, or a well dressed, manicured, out of work computer programming 60 year old college grad, white or black male or female. Who do you hire? Raising minimum wage puts the young folks out of work; it’s been proven over and over again. The folks fussing for higher wages price themselves right out of a job. 2. Minimum wage is now $20 an hour. What do you suppose Wal Mart will do if you just doubled their payroll costs for about 75% or their workforce? Just eat the cost? Nope, they will replace you and your friend with more reliable workers, lay-off workers and hire robots, reduce working hours, increase costs of their products across the board. How does this help anyone looking for minimum wage jobs? Don’t get me started on how this exponentially increases benefit costs (Workers Comp, 401K matching, etc). 3. Minimum wage is $20 an hour. You own a Mom and Pop hardware store; one of two left in your State. You’re looking to hire someone at $15 an hour, which is killing you because you can really only afford paying $12 an hour. Guess what, no candidates will seek you out as an employer because you are not willing to pay high wages for low skilled labor. You’re forced to work late, pick up shifts beyond what you’d normally work, shut down the store due to lack of help, close your business because you’ve reached burnout and bankruptcy. Tell me again how raising the minimum wage would help the US? The minimum wage is not designed to subsidize folks’ standard of living. It is designed to prevent employers from only paying $1 an hour to shovel coal or bust rocks. Think about it, if you don’t only want to make $10 an hour for the rest of your life, what do you do? Wine about how no one ever helps the little guy? No, you educate yourself, learn a skill/trade, you adapt, get two jobs, you survive. Forcing companies to pay you more is just like asking the Govt to pay off your student loans. No one is going to help you, you have to help yourself. 1. Show me statistics, cause I'm sure you pulled that out of your ass 2. You know nothing of robotics, their costs, and the stupidity of the general public on foolproof designs. Why do you think automation isn't widespread in service industries already? People are unpredictable and stupid. Automation that exists currently can only be feasible in low-contact manufacturing. The more human input involved, the more likelihood all automation involved in the overall process gets fucked. Then there's the cost of employing technicians for all this amazing automation that doesn't exist. 3. You know what a subsidy is? There's no reason many of the corporations that receive them now even do, let alone how much they receive. Reallocate that money for subsidies nationwide for private owned small businesses that employ under a certain amount of employees. At a certain size, you can afford the scales of economy that allow higher wages without government subsidies. Create legislation preventing large corporations from creating "shell mom'n'pop" stores under the employee count trying to benefit from the new subsidies. Make actual prison penalties for any companies found to be fraudulent or in violation. The rest of your post is basically just begging to be a slave. The fact is the minimum wage WAS intended to be the minimum required to live comfortably, and back in the day it was enough on a single income to go to college, buy or rent a house, and support a family (although not too comfortably). None of this is possible on today's minimum wage, even alone. Work 2 jobs to get by? Are you fuckin serious, that's your idea of how life's supposed to be? If everyone is working 2 jobs, where are all these jobs gonna come from? How much you getting paid by corps to lobby against higher wages for Americans? Surely nobody is that stupid without being paid. |

Become a manager and then you have that experience to move around with. Or get a CDL and haul things. Most USA JOBS ARE MIN WAGE. Drive around US cities. Starbucks, Walmart, Target, gas stations, hotels, blah blah.. all slave min wage |

I could buy 2 cheeseburgers fries and small coke and a pack of ciggs for this. Now not even the ciggs for 750 ....I could however still get a double cheesburger fires and a small coke for a little over half of 7.50.....Ciggs are mostly tax. Same with Gas....Gas was 89cents a gallon....or less then 1/3 of an minimum wage hour....now its 90% of a minimum wage hour....it all depends on what you tie your inflation to. |
