United Van Lines Vice President for Corporate Communications said, “In 2022 so far we have seen Colorado shift from an inbound state to more of an outbound move state. It’s jumped up to 18th on our list, whereas in years past we’ve seen it more of an inbound move state.”

Looks like they are blaming it on high housing costs, but the reason people are moving out of CO is because of COVID tyranny tactics from the government.

DUH! 5 years ago you could still buy a nice home in Denver for 250k.

You cant touch anything now for under 700k unless it's a dump.

Pueblo, a useless forlorn college town, had nice homes for 100k. ALL GONE.

Colorado springs? For 200k a super nice home. History now.

They are leaving because there is NOWHERE to live. Nothing but housing for the wealthy. SUPER wealthy . You need at least 7000 a month to live decently in Denver.

Re: Colorado seeing surge of outbound moves from the state
all these idiot politicians trying to pass laws about transgender this and that when working American have real problems - can't afford to live anywhere.

They need to pass a national rent control law or states need to pass national rent control laws.

Or they need to build massive amounts of cheap housing...and fast.

if they don't, they're going to have a homeless problem so bad in this country, Portland and Seattle will look mild by comparison.

There was an influx of people from california into the Denver area, after the many years of wildfires there. Now that they have ruined Colorado, they will probably migrate to a new state and wreck it, too.

you are right, but none of the metros in CO were designed or built right ... it's like Oregon - just shabby outside of the exclusive over priced communities ... The three cities in CO have no "down town" - they are "suburb" cities with the oldest crowded in the center -

IMO the only thing CO has going for it is the high altitude, Rockies and 4 Seasons - which still make it way better than TX AZ and FLa - were everyone is moving to ... I've lived in all three of those states - NEVER AGAIN not even for a vist HA

Personally I love Colorado but I live in the country, the high altitude is divine - no bugs - fantastic Scenery - real Americana ...mostly well educated -Worldly (x-military) people seeking sanctuary from the idiocracy of the Major Metros - naturally diverse it's kinda stuck in the 80's- great place to raise a healthy active family.

A shame. Colorado is a beautiful state. I hate cold weather, but if I had to choose the best cold weather place to live (ruling out politics/taxes) it would be Colorado.

Yup. I was born and raised there. The Californian's started coming in droves in the 90's. They ruined the housing market by artificially raising the prices of houses and their shitty, rude driving, not to mention their snotty, entitled attitudes. I am so glad I moved away long ago.

This is the case almost everywhere in the US. Problem is that paychecks have not gone up 5-fold. Allow a dementia riddled pedo demon to be your ruler and you get what is coming. And what is coming is much worse than ghetto condemned homes for 100k.

I take it you have never been here.. I have lived in the Denver Metro area since my graduation from High School.. except for a short time when my ex husband was in the army during the vietnam war.

Edit...OK I see apparently you do live in Colorado if I understood you right. I was born in small town in Colorado which is a large ski area with a world famous jump.. that my Grandfather built.. of course that was a long time ago... and the jump had to be modernized many years ago now.. like 50 maybe. I have not kept up with skiing industry . And haven't been back to the place of my birth since my Father passed in 2006
