Uncle intel ? AT&T deploying portable cell stations nationwide.
So a co worker/friend called me this morning and told me something interesting. He is not a conspiracy theory guy but is starting to wake up to things around him now. Anyway.
He was leaving his house this morning and he noticed a weird trailer in front of his neighbors drive. He said it was like 4x4 and 5ft tall. And looked weird. The neighbor was out so my friend asked about it. This is a mid to upscale neighborhood outside Nashville. Apparently the guy is an engineer or something similar with AT&T. This device was a cell station . The guy didn’t elaborate but said it was to ensure cell signal won’t be lost. The guy said they were told to deploy them this weekend nationwide. He said they are also in unmarked box trucks parked anywhere. My friend asked why … was there something going on ? The guy said has been chatter and that’s all he would go into.
My friend said the guy pretty much clammed up and went inside.
My friend found that odd and called me on the way to work to tell me.
Don’t know if anything is going on or not but my friend is pretty reputable and doesn’t bullshit.
So anybody got a clue ????

These have been seen a few years back in northern Colorado and Wyoming. They would be used if the power goes out for an extended time. Your town cell towers only have 2-3 hour battery backup.

I would be concerned. Looks likely that a hard power cut is coming. I'm ready because I'm already off grid. Most people will suffer for sure.

It’s weird that they would deploy these nationwide. That’s gotta cost a fortune.
Unless the guy is wrong. But my friend didn’t get that impression.

You are correct that cell towers have limited battery backup, although I would be surprised if they lasted only 2-3 hours. That aside, a lot of towers do also have standby generators with diesel tanks at the ready as well, a neighbor of mine has one on his property that I have looked at myself. I would wonder if these were not actual normal cell sites, but Stingrays, rouge man in the middle nodes that inspect / monitor traffic and then relay it to the legitimate towers. Various Federal and state agencies use these to "catch criminals" aka violate everyone's rights with illegal wiretaps on a routine basis. I also hear that other "interested parties" may also use them, although in this context I bet it would be the Feds. Who knows what they are looking for.

Saw one of these pop up in east county San Diego about 1 year and a half ago. Wasn't sure what the deal was then, or now.

But if you frequent this board, you might remember that at the beginning of all the Covid chaos, there were rumors going around that DHS (or maybe DOD, been a while) were taking over cell infrastructure and hardening it. I'd love to pull up a thread for reference but I barely remember what the exact topic was.

I can attest most provider equipment UPS batteries are absolute trash and won't keep things powered up for more than 5 minutes max.

Nobody replaces batteries anymore... Maybe the e-cycling costs too much for the lead-acid.

the trailer for a COW is $10,000
the antenna is $30,000
the cell equipment is $40,000

thats 80 grand a piece

ATT has ~8,500 towers

ATT does not have the money ~600 Million

to have backups for all towers
