Do customers have the option to purchase a new BMW without said options at a lower price point? If you have no choice but to buy them, then only being able to access something you paid for by making a microtransaction, it's a form of bait and switch. Fraud, plain and simple.

People warned of the dangers of leasing software in this manner starting a decade or so ago and they all said software was a special case and it certainly wouldn't go any further.

Then you'll be paying a monthly to allow the car to start.

Then you'll be getting an itemized tab for every function of the car you use.

All because it is software, and technically it didn't go any further.

And the people who warned from the outset sadly were vindicated but now you have to pay rent to use basic functions on everything you buy - because of software, and the climate, or something.
