Scary movies no longer enjoyable for me

none of it was ever scary what are you a 4 year old girl

I never liked those movies. And now reality is becoming sufficiently scary to many so we no longer need horror movies for that big scare. You just need Obama, Hillary, Gates, Fauci, and the WEF.

Its called growing up.

I was a fan of horror and gore films since 15 up to until about I had offspring.

I remember watching "The Boy who Wears Pajamas" for the first time when my kids young and sleeping.

I was traumatized for a day and I kept holding my kids.

My tolerance for intense fear is no longer tolerable.

For me, the reason has been because I scare myself to death already being a mother and I no longer need movies to give me that jolt of fear.

Yeah for me too.. Around 38ish things begin to change..

You start thinking about.. Life as it should be...

Especially if you have children, then you really start to change the mind over...

Means, I think your mentally growing up... And your mind is seeing the beauty in it.. Whatever there is...

But yea it's natural for normal thinking people...

People that are in the dark side, go deeper into horror show which is life...

It's why the military gets them at 18..18 year Olds are dumb enough to think they can live through anything...

Try to recruit 50 year Olds n up.. No way... They figured out they want to live...

Just binge on gore for a few week, then you'll never have to feel anything again.

It was all downhill after Scary Movie 2.

I do. Have one son, and just found out yesterday that another son is on the way this Fall.

Most horror films are not scary at all. Most are gory or just not scary. But I used to enjoy watching films like the Shining (the old one in the 1980). Scary films used to serve as like an amusement park ride for me. But now at age 40, I just don't find them fun. They just make me feel more uncomfortable for some reason.

Liking scary movies should end long before you turn 30.

Yeah, it's about growing up and staying away from 'garbage for the mind.'

Of course, some people never grow up. I know some that can't be alone after dark and need to sleep with the lights on. Some also see "ghosts" and I hear them talk about it. Yeah, I believe them.

I highly suspect they opened themseleves up to it by watching horror movies.

I find it all too stressful.

I don't watch suspense movies anymore either.

We're taking a daily dose of horror and drama on here.

And we're seeing some pretty horrible stuff lately.

It's hard to believe the world is going mad.

The inhumanity coming from people. Seriously.

Actually I still enjoy a good one. But they are extremely rare, 99% rely on shitty jump scares or gory effects because they are shitty cheap Cali or Canadian budget shoots out of a van. God awful acting, massive plot holes. Hokey Hammer films are still a favorite.

Good point! There will likely be a horror movie in 20 years that is about this period in time.

Yep I am 60 now and long ago loved going to see the scary slasher movie or Jason type movie but havent watched oe in years now...Funny thing me and the wife were walking down a new hiking trail and bout half way in started thinking about those movies were the weirdo gets the couple in the woods. We went on back to the car...lol

I'm not much into them anymore either. Never was my favorite genre though. Rarely watch any movies at all nowadays.

The world's just messed up enough, you don't need it added to entertainment.

I used to watch horror movies all the time as a kid up until my early 20’s. When you get older and have had a lot more life experience, known people who have gotten seriously hurt or died, been hurt bad yourself you start to become more empathetic with the victims unless your a complete psychopath. It’s not so fun anymore watching that shit after you’ve lived through some shit yourself, same reason as you get older you prefer more peace and quiet and try to avoid drama and stressful situations as much as possible. It’s completely normal man, don’t worry about it.

I hate the cliched 'hillbilly inbred cannibals' gore movies.
So gross, boring and predictable. The pretty girl always kills the last one. The boyfriend gets dissected alive.
Not scary.

I suppose ENJOYING watching people being murdered in horrible ways was NEVER really a normal or moral response. We were trained to think that was fun.

This. You're undergoing a spiritual awakening, OP, and you're becoming more sensitive to human suffering. Even if it's only in a movie and not real, it bothers you to see humans suffer. That's a very positive sign.
