Beef is the best meat.

There will be a glut of beef for a short while then the price goes high with little supply.....due to the drought conditions, ranchers are slaughtering the herds thay can't afford to feed....

I filled 2 chest freezers.....I already canned beef, chicken, and pork.....reserved enough jars and lids to can the freezer contents should the grid goes down....

Scallops, crab legs, shrimp, big horn sheep, elk, venison, beef, fish, turkey, chicken, in that order.

They just slaughtered all the dairy cows and other cows they couldn't keep fed.

This will give us a temporary reprieve from high meat prices but come this winter.....¡uf!

Have to wonder if this temporary glut of beef will ALSO result in lower canned meat prices. Longterm storage of canned meat beats frozen because there could be power outages that result in spoiled meat. What do people here think?

Prepping favors diversification.....have frozen meat for short term, canned meat for longer storage, and freeze dried for long term....

As I posted above, my frozen meats in the freezers is insured by my canning supplies....should the grid go down for an extended period, I will can the frozen meat....

I have 2 pressure canners and propane stove to can with should the natural gas supply get interrupted ....

Yeah that steak need some marbling but thye price is right.....I took advantage of the quality meats during 2020-2021.....the restaurant meat purveyors were selling their meats in supermarkets cuz the restaurants were close....I was amazed to find PRIME steaks at the supermarkets.....I bought, vacuum packed, and deep freezed them.....

There was also Berkshire pork and grade A chicken to be found too....
