The Taiwanese government is bought and paid for by CCP JUST LIKE the entire current US government/Democult party along with the alphabets and at least 90% of the Republicult party.
This is just a game to make it seem to the good regular people of Taiwan and the US that each government is loyal to their nations when in fact they are not. And it doesn't take a fucking idiot to see it.

It may be that they are meeting over chip manufacturing. Taiwan is king of chips and we're too dependant on them. Until we secure our own chip making, we are a sitting duck if China should attack. Politicians are there probably to strike a deal to get technology and lease their experts to us, to train our people lacking the skill to create such high tevh new gen chips.

I agree with this, I have a strong feeling this is why they are all going there, also if we ever do start making chips here, oh boy I feel bad for Taiwan....

The US believes that since China didn't do anything except rattle their sabers previously, that it's highly likely that they won't do anything too provocative, because they know Biden cucked them, as seen in the continued sanctions against Chinese interests, and Xi bending over backwards trying to appease Biden.

US Senators are in Taiwan feeling very much at ease, because the US has 12 aircraft carriers at their disposal, and what does China have? Is it one or two? The US reigns supreme and does what it wants.

If China did do something about all these various US lawmakers discussing Taiwan's continued security, while upholding the belief that they have the right to defend themselves, it might cancel the future meeting with China to discuss continued very important trade relations between China and the US.

Because the Taiwanese government, like most governments around the world, are left wing virtue signalers.

The Executive Yuan on Nov. 25 approved a special defense budget to acquire mostly indigenous weapons, such as missiles, to rapidly build up Taiwan’s combat capabilities. Together with a US military arms procurement budget proposed earlier this year, the nation is to invest nearly NT$334 billion (US$12 billion) by 2030 to deploy a “porcupine strategy” of asymmetric warfare, which includes strengthening the military’s countermeasures on land and sea by introducing US-made arms and developing indigenous naval vessels.

Oh great, lets celebrate!

Regarding the query of why the officials are all wearing masks, it may be a fashion statement. And it also hides obvious facial signaling, such as big toothy grins or grimacing.

Anyway,
I asked the question, if China would build at least one new bridge between the mainland and the island, following reunification.

After reunification, there are indications that China may build at least 6 new bridges connecting the island of Taiwan to the mainland, to help advance trade, eliminating the need for an international airport. At least one will be floating, and a semi-buried tunnel may take the place of a bridge. At least one of these bridges would include high-speed rail transport. With the possibility of such an undertaking, those helping to invest in the project would fare very well financially.

Meanwhile the US prefers status quo to remain the same, with the expected financial rewards of the US lawmakers to either remain the same or for them to receive more in compensation for their hard work to defend this assumed US territory. Arms manufacturers would reap great rewards with regular shipments of their latest technologies to help defend Taiwan from the mainland. After a planned regime change, the leadership of China would be decided by Washington in such a way as to benefit them exclusively.

As I see it, China may view Taiwan as competition to their existing manufacturing base, and only has an ancestral interest in the Chinese people living there. The Us has capitalized on the relatively cheap costs of production there, as well as the Chinese work ethic of the existing population, promising them absolute security and safety against the continued threats of Chinese aggression.
