But...to support Ben Davidson you have to give the guy
the benefit-of-the-doubt that he is doing WHAT HE CAN DO
in this age of "mass" censorship. He can't say too much
or his platform will be taken down.

I just listen to many ideas and decide myself what I

One big thing that's different is that people will get to reset their latitude. You'll look at noon on the day of the equinox, and the sun won't be at the right height in the sky!

But you don't have to wait for the equinox, it's near to where it will be already. In the US that means much higher in the sky. If you have a clear day, go out and look right now.

Where I am, it's 15 to 20 degrees higher than it used to be. And west has rotated about 15 degrees to the right. Numbers very approximate, but they're big and noticeable.

This will eventually lead to climate change. Since I am now on the edge of the tropics, my area will get warmer.

But over in eastern Europe and Asia in the northern hemisphere, it will get colder.

The equinox is the day when the precise amount of change can be measured. But it's been about this way (can't tell if exact or not) since the summer solstice. The sun went past vertical, which means this place is now called "tropics". Used to be 40 degrees north latitude!

If you look now at noon, the sun will be a little too high, i.e. you'll slightly overestimate the change, by about 1/7 of the total travel of the height of the sun from equinox to solstice, wherever you are, or about 3 degrees. Why?

Let's say the equinox is 10 days away, a year is 365 days, so it's 10/365 of a year. In radians, if a year is 2*pi radians, then 10 days is 2*pi/36 = 1/7 approximately. This is x - pi.

The reason this works out in radians is that we are measuring distances along a circle. The circumference of a unit circle is 2 pi. A circle has 2 pi radians. 360 is an arbitrary number without easy physical interpretation. See I teach you a lot here.

But the sun is moving down in the sky fastest now and fastest upwards at the other equinox. Assume the sun's height at noon follows a sine wave throughout the year. An equinox is a zero crossing of the sine wave, the slope is a cosine, which is maximum.

Scale so that the travel of the sine between solstice and equinox is 1. Then the slope, which is a cosine function, also has a maximum value of 1. Assume the rate of change is maximum throughout the following 10 days. Let the zero-crossing be at time pi, because there the sine function is decreasing (at zero it would be increasing corresponding to spring solstice.)

Then the height in the sky change is super simple to calculate, because of this setup. First write two expressions for the slope of this sine wave near the zero-crossing

{[sin x - sin(pi)]/[x - pi]} = cos(pi)

Each side is the slope, so they are equal; obviously this is approximate and actually equal only in the limit as x -> pi. Now we solve for the numerator and we're done.

sin x - sin(pi) = [x - pi] * cos(pi) = pi - x = -1/7. (because cos(pi) = -1)

So the sun will decline further 1/7 of its total travel between equinox and solstice (max or min height in the sky, whichever you have a good idea about) in the coming 10 days until the equinox.

How much is that travel? It should be about 23 degrees, because that's the earth tilt.

23 / 7 = 3.3 degrees of arc.

If you estimate your latitude today rather than waiting for the solstice, your estimate for your north latitude will be 3 degrees too low. (sun high in sky = north latitude close to zero.)

I got a news alert that the sunspot AR3098 has quadrupled in size in the past 24 hours.

I commented to my spouse when we were talking about the

21st- Fed is going to raise interest rates again, sending the markets tumbling down.

If workers in Australia are anything like the U.S.
they'll take the Friday (after Thursday the 22nd) and
have a nice long weekend from 9-22 through 9-26-2022.
